Tomorrow's adventure
We've been busy packing and getting prepared for our flight to Xining tomorrow, so no photos yet (sorry!). We'll be meeting our new guide in Xining at the airport but will be walked up to China Southern and to security by our driver, with the cell number of our Beijing guide Chen Chen on hand. Chen Chen tells us that our Xining guide is someone who has been arranged through the orphanage. Our flight leaves at 11:30 am, so we'll have a bit of time to settle in. We will meet Rachel Yue Yue the following day at 9 AM at Civil Affairs.
Tonight we splurged on a meal at the rooftop restaurant at our hotel, along with some of our bigger travel group. Xian was quite enchanted with one of the dads and his friend who are travelling for a 15 month old in Guangxi. Tentative play dates scheduled when we're all back in Beijing! (And Grandma had a peaceful meal sitting with one of the soon to be Grandma/Mama duos in the group.)
Xian asked if it was a school day this morning and is telling people she misses her school. She's been busy playing "teacher" and making Grandma and Mama put their hands up to ask questions about "bacteria". She's also enjoying taking pictures with her disposable camera, and after watching a beauty pageant show on Chinese TV she's making people pose for their portraits. Hmmmm, new career path? She still thinks she is waiting too long to see her new sister, Yue Yue, but we'll be meeting her pretty soon.
Beijing weather has been a little nippy, though warmer than home, though we are prepared for things to be a bit colder in Xining.
Better get "big sister" to sleep (we indulged in naps today).

Awesome Linda! The three of you are almost there! Can't wait to hear you are with your little girl! Constance
Hi Linda,
As a fellow Group 252er I must admit I am not a little jealous! Just reading of your trip is making me itch to get there again. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to live vicariously through you until our time comes.
I wonder if your Guide Chen Chen is the same guide we had for our first adoption back in 2001. We thoroughly enjoyed her, and our then 13 year old, Caleb, pretty much glued himself to her hip, soaking in as much information as she would give him about China and its culture.
I'm so glad you're sharing your trip with us.
Blessings,
Debbie Yuck
Hi Joan, Linda and Xian!
It is so wonderful to keep track of where you are traveling to and that you have arrived safely.
I laughed so hard when I read about Joan glaring at the drivers! I can just picture it!
Alix and Rachel can't wait to see the pictures. Thank you for including us in your journey!

Hi Linda,
You must have met Tan Yue by now! So eager to see your new photos.
It is good to know that grandma is getting used to the "traffic rules" in Beijing. I was so scared by the traffic when we were in beijing last year. Can't remember how I went through when I was in China.
Say hi to Big Sister. We miss her. Enjoy the tasty food and happy shopping.
