Heading to Canada tomorrow....

We catch our flight at 5:30 Thursday Beijing time and will arrive back home on Thursday as well, actually before we will have left in the time-date spectrum if we don't have any delays. Today Grandma is continuing to improve but Xian had a nasty bout of the stomach virus that the Guangdong group brought back with them...let's just say that a hotel room and stomach flu are not a particularly good combination. We gave our last chambermaid (who came in to change sheets and towels for us) a good tip. Xian was a bit off her food yesterday and seemed not quite her usual self, so that explains it. She's slept a lot of the day and has managed to keep down a few rice crackers now and some flat 7Up, so hopefully will be improved tomorrow, but we'll keep her on the bland nondairy diet for a while, at least until we're most of the way home. Just crossing our fingers that little sis doesn't get it. A number of the Guangdong group babies came with it, and one of the older siblings in that group was also sick. Glad we brought lots of Gravol and other stomach remedies...have also used the Gastrolyte to help keep her hydrated. As Xian said, "I am having a bad day today."

Grandma and I have alternated a last bit of shopping and discovered some good "finds" in the two mall complexes across the street. Amazing what you can do when trying to get rid of some of that yuan and have a time limit! YueYue seemed to understand that her big sister was sick and was only up to about half of her usual mischief. (We'll be using all our toddler/baby proofing devices at home, I am sure!)

Wish us luck on that long flight. As long as no one is throwing up or worse, I think we'll consider it a success no matter whatever meltdowns we have along the way. (YueYue isn't fond of airplanes or busses as it seems, but we'll be keeping that Gravol at the ready....and hopefully she'll be tired enough to sleep the night.)

Will post more photos once we're home and back to some normal state. We'll let people know if we need any help, but Grandpa is arriving on Saturday, so he should be able to help get us past the first stages of jet lag.

Stomach virus? Ugh! I pray it stops with Xian.

I've been so fortunate on that front. 3 trips to China and nary a bug. Didn't catch SARS back in April '03 either, although Cherish contracted chicken pox from one of the children travelling with us, and lovingly passed it along to Blessing upon our return :-)

Boy, it sure seems YOUR trip has gone a whole lot faster than my trips! I've thoroughly enjoyed following along.

Glad to hear Grandma's feeling better. Hope Xian and Yue Yue do well on the long flight - and you too!

Blessings,
Debbie
